Description

Sabal minor ‘McCurtain’ one of the hardiest palms known. This Palm tree has over wintered in our garden with no protection for over 9 years. Discovered growing in McCurtain County, Oklahoma it is one of the most northern growing plants found. Plant have been recorded handling -20F. Plants tend to grow larger and faster than the common species. As with palms it can take some years to get a nice looking display plant and many many years to get a trunk. Plants grown from seeds off of our plant. These are first year seedlings putting out nice foliage. In cold climates I would suggest planting in the spring or early summer and protecting the plant in the fall for the first year at least with leaves or plastic pot.

Plants are seedling plant sold in 4 inch pots.
