Description
Philodendron speciosum is a large aroid from Brazil. The mature plant produces large hastate leaves around 4 to 6 feet long. As the plant matures it produces a large trunk. The flowers are large around 2 feet tall and have a strong fruit smell at night. I grew the mother plant from seed around 20 years ago. I have attempted several times to pollinate the plant with itself to produce true to type species of this rare Philodendron speciosum. I finally was able to produce seed in 2016 from a self pollination. I will finally be able to offer this extremely rare plant in 6 inch pots. This is one of those plants that rarely come to market but when it does I will have good stock for a year or two then it will be gone for a long time. So if this is on your wish list. I would suggest getting it while I have them. Not sure when I will be able to cross it again to itself.
Only have a handful of these left around 1 to 2 feet tall.
