Description
Canna ‘Minerva’ (Striped Beauty) is a beautiful and often overlooked canna hybrid prized for both its striking foliage and unusual flowers. The leaves are bright green with thin yellow variegated stripes running throughout the foliage, giving the plant a look somewhat similar to Canna ‘Pretoria’ (Bengal Tiger).
The flowers are bright yellow and feature a unique white cross in the center of each bloom—an extremely rare trait in cannas and one that sets this variety apart from nearly all others. This distinctive pattern makes the flowers especially eye-catching in the garden.
Plants typically grow 4–6 feet tall and form strong upright clumps. Canna ‘Minerva’ performs well in containers, tropical garden beds, or even as an aquatic plant in shallow water, where its bold foliage and unusual blooms create a dramatic display.
