Description

Alocasia “MetalHead” TM (var. ‘ALOMEHE’) is a recently introduced Alocasia cultivar distinguished by its dark, metallic foliage and robust, upright growth habit. The leaf blades are broadly sagittate, displaying coloration that ranges from gray-green to deep green, with a pronounced metallic sheen that becomes more evident under high light conditions. Petioles are thick, upright, and uniformly deep maroon, a pigmentation that extends to the abaxial (underside) leaf surfaces, contributing to the plant’s dramatic visual contrast.

Venation is well defined, with primary and secondary veins subtly recessed into the leaf blade, enhancing the sculptural quality of the foliage. While still under evaluation due to its recent introduction, Alocasia ‘Metal Head’ is anticipated to reach a mature height of approximately 4 to 6 feet, producing large, bold leaves that amplify its architectural presence.

The cultivar appears well suited to both container cultivation and tropical or subtropical landscape use, where its metallic coloration and dark stems provide strong contrast against lighter foliage. With appropriate warmth, moisture, and well-drained soil, this Alocasia demonstrates vigorous growth and strong ornamental potential.
