Description
Alocasia ‘Imperial Red’ is a cultivated hybrid derived from Alocasia odora and a pink-petioled clone of Alocasia macrorrhizos. This selection exhibits a robust, upright growth habit characteristic of both parent species. Plants develop large, sagittate foliage supported by pigmented petioles ranging from deep red to rose-pink, providing strong ornamental contrast.
The cultivar is noted for its vigorous growth rate, adaptability, and relative ease of cultivation compared to many other large-growing Alocasia. Under favorable conditions, Alocasia ‘Imperial Red’ establishes quickly and produces a commanding architectural presence, making it well suited for tropical landscapes and large interior plantings.
