Zantedeschia are commonly known as Calla lilys and are widely known for cut flowers or container plants. Many of them can also grow well as aquatics and some are quite hardy if protected. Zantedeschia are naive to Africa and produce underground tubers which can go dormant in winter. Most varieties grow from 1 to 2 feet tall while some hybrids and species can reach 4 to 6 feet. The foliage is usually hastate shaped and sometimes having small white speckles. The flowers are very well known with usually a white to yellow spadix and a colorful spath with many colors from white to yellow orange purple and black.
