Crinums commonly referred to as swamp lilies. They normally grow in soggy to bog like conditions near water. Usually grown in full sun they are found growing in tropical and sub-tropical areas around the world. Crinums can range in size from small underwater growing plants as well as 1 foot tall low growing grass like lilies all the way up to 6 foot plants that form a trunk like base. The foliage is usually held in a symmetrical rosette like shape with foliage ranging in colors from green to dark maroon and variegated. Crinums also have a stem that grows out with a cluster of star shaped flowers, some being very impressive in size and color.
