When I was around 11 years old, I remember saving my money to order a mixed tray of different carnivorous plants out of the back of a catalog. The excitement and mystery these plants bring to a young boys mind cannot be measured. The thought that a plant can trap or move to eat something was mind blowing. Now that I am older I still find the amazement and over all awe of these plant still strong. It is exciting to see young gardeners interested like I was in a plant. Carnivorous plants will grow in a peat base acidic soil and require wet to damp feet. They also dislike fertilizer which can kill them. They prefer to hunt for their food.
