One of the first plants going in the ground this year is Canna Maui Punch.This is a dwarf Canna I bred many years ago. It is one of those plants that still shocks me when I see it. When I was breeding Cannas, I remember finding Canna Maui Punch. At the time, I was breeding dwarf clumping Cannas that have larger flowers and self-clean (flowers fall off after flowering). I was trying to get something with pizzazz and was using a lot of bicolor flowers.
Over my life time I have found myself jumping from hobby to hobby. One of my first loves as a young kid was dinosaurs. It can be hard for any young mind not to gravitate towards such an amazing subject, but unlike most kids I seem to always become obsessed. I would spend hours in creeks around my house looking for fossils till it got dark.
