This weekend, after I finished with the boxes, I was able to help fill up the tables I was telling you about. They’re turning out to be one of my favorite new things we’ve done this year. The old tables lasted us a good 15 years, so I’m hoping these will be around just as long—if not longer. We’ve currently added colocasias, cannas, succulents, carnivorous plants, and succulents.

I have an ever-growing collection of succulents that I rotate from my porch in the summertime to the greenhouses at the farm during the winter. Some of my favorites are the variegated agaves that Brian has been buying me for years. It’s a win-win for him—he buys them for me, but he also gets to enjoy the collection. I think that’s why I had so much fun setting these little guys out this weekend.

After leaving the nursery for the day, I decided it was time to tackle the grass at the farm. Like everyone else in Kentucky, this has been a struggle with all the rainy days. It’s something I truly enjoy doing—I can tune out all the noise of the world and focus only on the tall grass in front of me and the short grass behind. Since we have a large yard to mow, I use our tractor and pull-behind mower to get the job done.

With my little sidekick at my feet, we’re able to get everything nice and neat. When we first got the tractor, Brian said I’d never be able to get Axel to ride with me—but surprise, surprise, he loved it! Now he always goes with me to mow.
Well, it’s time for me to get back to shipping orders.
