Yesterday, we made a mad dash home after work because we were under a tornado warning. The storm was expected to hit between 6 and 10 p.m. The forecast was calling for 70 mph winds, hail, and up to three inches of rain. It was important for us to get everything secured at the nursery and then batten down the hatches at the farm before the storms arrived.

With so many storms this year, I already had our basement prepared. The hurricane lamps were filled with oil, and the lighter was right beside them—just in case the electricity went out. Thankfully, our little town doesn’t lose power very often, but it’s always better to be prepared.

I was in for the night when Brian called to me from the back porch. I walked outside to see a full double rainbow stretching from one end of our property to the other. It was backlit by a golden yellow sky and lit up with flashes of lightning underneath. It was so stunning that we stayed on the porch watching until the rainbow finally faded about an hour later.

After that, the skies turned dark and a calm rain settled in. As the old saying goes: If you don’t like the weather in Kentucky, stick around for five minutes—it’ll change. 😊
