Flat Lick Falls

We’ve been putting in quite a few hours this year and decided to take a small break for a day. Most people would relax and laid around, but not us. We jumped in the car and drove three hours south to Flat Lick Falls, part of Daniel Boone National Forest.

Over the years, I’ve always had hobbies and things I love to do, from collecting rocks to studying chemistry and science, and growing and breeding plants. But I have to say, exploring nature has to be one of the best things for the mind and soul—maybe not the body, but certainly the rest of me. We visited the large waterfalls, and I personally enjoyed seeing both the big leaf Magnolias and umbrella leaf Magnolias in the wild.

Of course, on the way home much later that night, we stopped at Buc-ee’s, a gas station with a cult following. I can see why—it was packed full of junk food and other delights. Hopefully, we’ll get to take a few more trips like this one this summer.

We also listed some more great plants on the site this week for you to check out.
