Syngonium steyermarkii
Syngonium steyermarkii is one of the more attractive and interesting
Syngoniums I have seen. A few years ago I had no idea it existed but a
good friend of mine had one plant and had started propagating it. I was
fortunate enough to get one of his plants and have been growing it for a
few years. It seems to not be near as fast a grower as some of the
other species but once it took off it started moving. The leaves can get
over 1 foot long and are very pinnate when mature. It also tends to
have a bit of a sheen to the surface of the leaf. It is a climber and
should be given a totem or tree. I am not sure what the flower looks
like or what a completely mature leaf may look like as the largest one I
have seen were just over 1 foot. Still most people do not ID it as a
Syngonium.
