Trachycarpus 'Hayes Stiffie'
Trachycarpus 'Hayes Stiffie' this unique windmill palm was grown by good friend Hayes Jackson. Plant Delights nursery released and named it as Trachycarpus Hayes Stiffie due to the stiff leaves the plant has and perhaps other reasons only Tony would know. It does seem to be a very unique plant and has shown to be one of the cold hardiest Trachycarpus we have grown. It is believed it may in fact be a hybrid Trachycarpus fortunei 'Wagnerianus' x Trachycarpus fortunei but it is not sure if this is true of if it is just a unique clone. Either way it is a great new cold hardy palm to try and has survived in unheated greenhouses here in KY zone 6 for a number of years. The plants offered are grown in 1 gallon pots and will be shipped bare rooted. FACTS Foliage: Fan like foliage hairy trunk Flower: Yellow small cluster of flowers Height: 10 to 30 feet tall or more Situation: Sun part shade Zone:7 and up maybe hardier in micro climates has survived 5 F with out damage Species/Hybridizer Hybrid or clone by Hayes Jackson |
