Colocasia Sangria™ VS Colocasia esculenta 'Rhubarb'

Colocasia Sangria is a beautiful plant with blue-green leaves that are reminiscent of tranquil ocean waves on a summer vacation. Sangrias stems evoke memories of mom's cherry pies that were fresh out of the oven. This colocasia loves spending time in the summer heat and snuggles it's bulbs safely underground for the winter until springs warm sun awakens it's bulbs once more.


What is the difference between Colocasia Sangria™ and Colocasia Rhubarb? Colocasia Sangria™ produces medium size tubes which make it hardy to zone 6, while Colocasia Rhubarb is a Hawaiian variety that produces no tubers. When it comes to leaves Colocasia Rhubarb has solid green leaves while Colocasia Sangria™ has lovely blue-green leaves with dark purple veins. The dark purple veins of Sangria's™ leaves accentuate its cherry red stems. Sangri™a consistently grows to heights of 5 to 6 feet tall while Rhubarb is a delicate grower reaching 4 feet. In short Colocasia Sangria™ is a hardy grower that takes you back home.
